So here is the third part of my journey in curing my adult acne. Did you know that food plays a major role in acne. The food that you eat can either help you get clear glowing skin or either just feed the bacteria on your face to keep producing acne. I have discovered that Dairy and Gluten is the biggest trigger to acne. Yes you have heard me right!!! Its dairy and gluten. The two things which we have been eating since we are in our mother's womb. As you all have known from my first post on this blog... that I have had a miscarriage before. So during the pregnancy I was not only suffering from acne but I also gained so much weight. I gained around 6 kgs just 3 months into the pregnancy till I had my natural miscarriage. I was on strict bed rest, cos I was having brown discharge and cramps all the time. So being on bed rest, and pregnant, I was so alert to my hunger. I find that when I eat, I feel less nauseated. Into the third month of my pregnancy I was craving rice and spicy food. My baby is so Asian hahaha....well after the miscarriage I was not only left with a face that look like a pimple farm but I also gained some weight. So obviously as much as I was concern on my acne, I was as well concerned about my weight. I wanted to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. So I started my low carb Atkins diet as it have worked for me in the pass. At the same time I started my new all natural skin care regiment. click
HERE to read about the all natural skin care regiment which will help your acne prone skin to heal. I also started my low carb diet. I completely eliminated dairy from my diet just because I wanted to cut down my calories and lose my body fat. I also started reading a lot on food and nutrition, cause I want to lose weight the healthy way. I started reading on how bad is gluten for the body. It triggers migraine, leaky gut, diabetes, and many skin allergies such acne, eczema and psoriasis, So this finding really surprised me. How can food such as bread triggers acne.... ?! NO doctor will tell you this just because you are their dollar sign. If everyone knew the secret to cure acne... No one will be needing dermatologist and their products ever again. So I read this book called the Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis. This book really convinced me to give up on gluten. I started to see drastic improvement on my acne particularly on my foreheads, shoulders and on my back. So during this time I was doing a no dairy diet as well just cos I wanna lose weight. A month into a no dairy, no gluten and low carb diet I have not only lost some weight but also my skin was so smooth. I did not have acne bumps on my face anymore. My back acne was gone, my back is smooth again. I was so motivated to lose weight and get rid of my acne cause my sister's graduation was just around the corner and I want to look good for the ceremony as there will be photo session and these photos will go to our family album. So this was enough to motivate me on my journey to lose weight and curing my acne. I was so happy that on the graduation day my skin was acne free..... can you believe it?!! IT was ACNE FREE. Though I was suffering from acne scaring but that was the least of my problem. Thanks to my make-up applying skills I manage to cover up my acne scars perfectly.

On my sister's graduation day
After my sister's graduation, I flew back to Germany, as my husband is from Germany, and this time for good. I still continued with my low carb, no dairy and gluten free diet. As I still have a few more pounds to lose. So after achieving my desired weight goal, I started adding back dairy into my diet. What I noticed is that I started breaking out again. My breakouts was more focused on my cheeks, jawline, neck and chest. I was a little confused. I was wondering what went wrong. But I still continued having dairy because I never saw the connection between dairy and acne. So as months goes by I was busy going to the German language school learning how to speak Deutsch, and my white wedding in Paris date was coming closer. I was so excited and nervous at the same time. So two week before the white wedding, I went back again to my low carb no dairy and gluten free diet but more like a paleo diet. So it was grain free, sugar free, dairy free, and legume free diet. All because I wanted to fit into my white wedding gown. So I was highly motivated. As to some of you who might get confused with my story here.... I did my marriage ceremony in my country Malaysia and we did my traditional wedding ceremony. I have always wanted to wear a white wedding dress with my prince charming in his tuxedo since I was a little girl. So we decided that we will do our white wedding in Europe and we choose the city of love Paris as the location. So the day came and I was so happy that I could easily fit into my dress but I also noticed that my acne was gone. I was crying with tears of happiness. After the white wedding in Paris, I got the photos in a usb stick and the photographer was asking if we want our photos to be edited. My husband and I decided that we will print this photos unedited as there was nothing to edit especially on my skin. I was looking flawless in the photos. So after we came back to Germany, I started again adding dairy back in my diet but I was still doing gluten free, grain free paleo diet and I started to breakout again at the same area. The acne was more cystic. So this time I was thinking what changes did I make to my diet. Off course dairy came to my mind.I started to notice the connection between dairy and my acne. So I started to do dairy allergy test on myself. For 30 days I completely did not have any dairy. As predicted my skin started to glow and all the acne began to shrink and disappear. I saw this changes around two weeks into the no dairy challenge. So that being said, I am now doing a gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, and soy free diet. The reason why I don't have soy products, is because I have notice that I breakout whenever I eat anything with soy. I am now more sensitive to my body changes. I feel that my weight gain during my pregnancy was actually a blessing in disguise. If it was not for the weight that I have gained, I would never have gone on my diet to lose weight and finding the cure to my acne. Its not surprising at all as to why dairy is the main trigger along side with gluten. Cow's milk contain growth hormones for the calf to grow. This growth hormones from the cow's milk creates huge mess to our human hormones. And this hormones from the cow's milk also sends a signal to our oil glands to produce more oil thus creating congested pores and pimples to surface on our skin. Removing dairy and gluten from my diet are the best decision I have ever done for myself esteem. I now have clear skin and whenever I do eat dairy or gluten when I am invited to parties or when I'm on holiday, the very next day I will break out again somewhere on my face or my upper body. But at least I know the reason for my breakouts. So right now I control my acne and not the acne controlling my life like it used to. And I feel confident being in my own skin. With or without make up, I am still beautiful as long as I am acne free. On my next post I will share with you, what I eat on day to day basis on my gluten free, dairy free diet. So stay tuned.....
