How to make your own Clarified butter (Ghee)

Ghee is my favourite choice of fat when cooking. It is high in saturated fats which makes it the perfect choice for cooking especially on high heat. Unlike other vegetable oils such as olive oils which have very low heating point and gets oxidized very easily. The fatty acid chains in ghee is so easily digested by the body. Ghee is proven to reduce cholesterol and It is a good brain food. When your brain functions well, everything in the body will function well such as the nerve system, the thyroid system which regulates the hormones in the body and the list goes on. Apart from ghee, I also use coconut oil for cooking due to the same reasons. Our body needs healthy fats and these oils are the perfect healthy fats what your body need in order to function well. Nowadays, we see a rise in `fat phobic´ culture. Most health practitioners and advisor´s are advising people to stay away from ghee and butter but instead opt for the unhealthy margarine and processed vegetable oils such as canola oil, sunflower oil etc etc. These ´healthy´causes more damage to the body. It is no wonder why more and more people are suffering from heart and cholesterol problems. So now lets cut the chase and get to the recipe session....

You will need :-

  • A good quality grass fed butter ( I use Kerrygold Irish butter )
Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter

Method:-
  • Place the butter in a  sauce pan.
  • Get the butter to melt on a very low heat.
  • Once the butter have melted, the milk solid will start to separate
  • The milk solid will start to come on the top like this...

  • Once you see something like this, that means the butter is now ready to be sifted in a cheese clothes or with a very fine sieve.
  • After sifting, You will be left with a clear butter liquid. t
  • Transfer it to a airtight glass container and let it to cool down before you cover it with the lid. You can keep the clarified butter in room temperature or in the fridge,

Do make this as you can see that it is so easy and you control the type of butter which is used. Take charge of what goes into your body. Let food be your medicine and not medicine be your food. Little healthy changes makes a great impact to your health. So start feeding yourself and your family real food. You can never go wrong on that.
